I don't know much about Deathlok, but I'm a big Denys Cowan fan. He was the main artist for 1-15 (a few guest spots in there also) and he illustrates a pretty funny story in the annual making fun of the letter writers.
McDuffie trades writing duties with Wright. McDuffie is a MUCH better writer and the book suffers whenever Wright takes over. But overall the art is great, and the first story arc from issues 2-5, "The Souls of Cyber-Folk" is great. I grew up on Claremont X-Men so I think superheroes are the perfect venue for didactic philosophizing, which is what this arc is all about.
A fascinating proto-Milestone book.
Issue 13 is delightfully low grade. Like someone taped the cover back together. Generally speaking these are all reader copies.
